NCAAF Betting Previews: West Virginia at Syracuse, NC State at Virginia
Posted by Aritha H at 11:12 PMHere are some game notes, analysis and ATS profiles for your review and interest in this week’s college football action. As always, check injuries, weather, stat profiles and understand the emotional motivation for each contest.
West Virginia -14 at Syracuse O/U 59 (Friday) West Virginia is on 15-6 ATS run in Big East road games including 5-0 SU/ATS at this site. Visitor has covered six-straight in series. Syracuse is 1-4 ATS this season with its lone cover a fortunate one in OT as touchdown favorites over Wake Forest in Week 1. The Orange upset the Mountaineers last year as a big +13.5 point underdog. Value side may point to Syracuse based on results, but can they slow a WVU offense that has gained at least 480 yards in each of its last five games? The Orange pass defense is currently allowing over 290 passing ypg.
NC State at Virginia -5.5 O/U 52 Value side in this ACC game lies with the Wolfpack, who would have been favored here if played in Week 1. Virginia’s upset over Georgia Tech last week is fresh in the public’s mind and in my opinion, the oddsmakers have over-adjusted. Considering that NC State (3-3 SU) is just 1-4-1 ATS and 5-16 SU on the road in ACC play the last five years and you see why the adjustment was made. However, note that NC State is rested and ready off a bye week, and quarterback Sean Glennon is playing well with nearly 250 ypg passing, 64% completions and a 16-to-4 TD/INT ratio. The Wolfpack lead the ACC with 12 INTs and while Virginia’s defense is stronger, the Cavs are just 2-9 ATS in ACC home games of late. Head coach Tom O’Brien is in his best role; 24-12 ATS as underdog at NC State. The Wolfpack are even better ATS off a bye going 16-2 ATS. Note the time change to 3:30 ET and televised on ESPNU.
